Paid workshop opportunity: Christmas Creative Market Workshops 2024

HAZ Blackpool Suzanne Pinder

Calling Fylde Coast creatives

The third HAZ Christmas Creative Market will be held at the Winter Gardens on Saturday 30 November 2024 and we’re seeking stallholders and workshop facilitators.

Following the success of last year’s Christmas Creative Market, we are looking for Fylde Coast-based stallholders as well as local creatives and artists to deliver creative workshops throughout the day.

Like last year we will be taking over the Pavilion at Blackpool’s fabulous Winter Gardens. We’re looking for 2 local creatives to run bookable or drop-in activities for families at Blackpool Christmas Creative Market.

Our callout ends Friday 11 October.

INFORMATION FOR WORKSHOP APPLICANTS

We would like to hear from artists who can run bookable or drop-in activities for adults and families at Blackpool Creative Market at Blackpool Winter Gardens on Saturday 30 November 2024.

  • Theme: A Sustainable Christmas.
We’re looking for festive eco-friendly creative activities e.g. crafting with recycled materials, printing with natural inks etc.
  • You will ideally have experience of working with the public on community art projects or workshops, especially adults and  families/children aged approximately from toddlers to 12 years (you don’t need to be DBS checked – as parents/chaperones and staff will be present during the activities).
  • You will need to attend from 10am to 4pm plus set up/packing away time.
  • The activity should last approx 1 hour with 1 session starting in the morning and a second in the early afternoon
  • Activity can take place outside the venue (e.g. outdoor photography) but must start/finish at the venue.

The fee

The fee is £260. This will include planning and preparation, and delivery of the activity on Saturday 30 November 2024. We pay artists based on rates advised by the Artists’ Union England and Arts Council England.

Requirements

  • You must be able to provide all the necessary equipment to deliver the workshop.
  • You must have all the relevant insurances (particularly public liability) in place.
  • Activity must take place on Saturday 30 November 2024.
  • At the end of the workshop, participants will ideally have produced something to take home on the theme of A Sustainable Christmas.

Timescale

  • Submit your proposal by midnight on 11 October
  • You will have a response by 18 October
  • Activity will take place on Saturday 30 November
Please note that this commission cannot be used to fund work that is already part of an existing programme or activity that has already taken place.

How we will decide

The proposals will be considered by the HAZ Cultural Consortium. We will offer feedback as we recognise this is important to anyone wanting to improve their tendering skills.

What you will need to submit

Your proposal should include:

  • Experience: What is your experience of leading workshops in the past?
  • Activity/artistic medium: What activity do you want to lead?
  • Numbers: How many people can take part – Is this activity bookable or can attendees ‘drop-in’?
  • Equipment: Do you have all the equipment to deliver the session(s)

Please set out your proposal and email it to us at [email protected]

Due to our funding conditions, this opportunity is limited to individuals and organisations based in the UK. We will give priority to applicants based on the Fylde Coast but artists from outside this area are welcome to apply if workshops can be delivered locally.
