Four years of nationwide cultural activity helping to make high streets more attractive, engaging and vibrant places for people to live, work and spend time.
What is our cultural programme?
A major aim of the cultural programme is to help people feel proud of where they live, bringing new activity to the high street and to engage local communities in creative activity.
The High Streets Heritage Action Zones Cultural Programme is part of the £95 million High Streets Heritage Action Zone initiative, which is currently working across more than 60 English high streets. This will fund four years of cultural activities that engage communities with their local high streets, and celebrate the role and importance of these historic areas as hubs of the community.
The Blackpool programme is already working on delivering regular creative markets for local artists and makers and setting up taster workshops so that local people can try out a range of different creative activities.
Future work will look at performance and film as well as talks and tours focused on heritage and the past, present and future of Blackpool’s town centre.
“The event itself was well organised and the atmosphere between the stall holders, the organisers, and the public was very positive.”
